Capturedbykraus, led by Katarina Kraus, learning authentic portrait and editorial photography.
Hey! I’m Kat! Thanks for stopping by.
I’m a first year Photography student at the University of Gloucestershire, and Captured by Kraus is what I’m building while I figure out life, the industry, and what kind of photographer I want to become.
I named it after my parents, who used to run Casa Kraus back in Romania. It was this stunning restaurant that catered weddings, parliament events, all kinds of incredible things. They moved us to the UK so I could have better opportunities, and honestly, everything I’m doing now is because of them. Photography is my way of saying thank you, and also my way of making a change in the world, whether that’s small or massive. It just makes me happy.
I studied Art and Photography at A level and genuinely loved it. Since then I’ve shot weddings, christenings, parties, church ceremonies, portraits, pets, kids, products, all sorts. But what I really care about are personal projects that actually mean something. Projects that recognise people and work that usually goes unnoticed.
Right now I’m learning alternative processes, darkroom work, and campaign based documentary photography. I’m building a network, pushing myself, and creating a gallery that shows my journey and the difference I want to make in people’s lives.
Captured by Kraus is what I want to be my legacy to the world. This website is where I’m putting it all together.
Thanks for being here.
