Fae Macramé is a handmade fibre art business created by Fi, specialising in intricate macramé pieces inspired by nature, mythology and mindful craftsmanship. Every creation is made entirely by hand, transforming individual strands of cord into detailed decorative artworks through patience, repetition and skill.
For this shoot, I wanted to document the process rather than simply the finished products. By focusing on Fi's hands, the rhythm of knotting, and the tools and materials surrounding her workspace, the photographs reveal the time, precision and quiet concentration behind each piece. Alongside these intimate details, I created environmental portraits to place the maker within her creative space, showing the connection between the artist and her craft.
As part of Made By Hand: An Insight Into The Hidden Paths Across Our Palms, this series celebrates the often-overlooked labour behind handmade work. While customers may admire the finished macramé, the countless knots, careful planning and hours of craftsmanship often remain unseen. Through these photographs, I wanted to make that invisible process visible, highlighting the dedication and artistry woven into every piece.
