Hound & About
Hound & About is an independent dog walking business founded by Natalie, whose work is built on trust, patience and genuine care for every dog she looks after. Rather than simply documenting the service, I wanted to capture the relationship between the walker and the animals in her care, revealing the quieter moments that often go unnoticed.
This shoot focused on movement, connection and personality. By photographing the dogs in their natural environment, I aimed to create authentic images that reflected both the joy of the walks and the dedication behind the business. Every walk involves responsibility, attentiveness and compassion, qualities that are rarely recognised despite being at the heart of the profession.
As part of my Made By Hand: An Insight Into The Hidden Paths Across Our Palms project, Hound & About represents another form of often unseen labour. While dog walking is frequently viewed as a simple daily task, it requires consistency, trust and a deep understanding of animal behaviour. Through these photographs, I wanted to celebrate the care behind the profession and give visibility to the work that takes place long before owners return home to happy, well-exercised dogs.
