Throughout Made By Hand, I wanted to explore not only the people who dedicate their lives to a craft, but also the places that ensure those skills continue to be shared with future generations. New Brewery Arts became one of those places.

Across a series of workshops, I documented artists and makers working in a wide variety of disciplines, from textiles and weaving to jewellery, glass and contemporary craft. Although each maker had their own creative practice, they all shared a common goal: preserving traditional techniques while encouraging others to experience the satisfaction of making something by hand.

Rather than focusing solely on finished pieces, I photographed the creative process itself. Hands became the central subject once again, measuring, weaving, engraving, cutting, soldering and shaping materials through years of learnt skill. Each workshop demonstrated that craftsmanship is not only about creating beautiful objects, but also about passing knowledge from one generation to the next.

As part of Made By Hand: An Insight Into The Hidden Paths Across Our Palms, this collection celebrates New Brewery Arts as a place where invisible labour becomes visible. Every workshop revealed the patience, expertise and dedication behind handmade work, reminding me that creativity flourishes most when knowledge is shared.
