Meeting Cheryl was an absolute pleasure. Her warmth, passion and genuine love for floristry were immediately evident, making this one of the most enjoyable shoots throughout Made By Hand. Since our first session together, I've also had the privilege of photographing the grand opening of her new florist, making it especially rewarding to see her business continue to grow.
Working from her studio, Cheryl creates natural, handcrafted floral arrangements inspired by the changing seasons and the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Rather than simply photographing bouquets, I wanted to document the thoughtful decisions behind every arrangement—the careful selection of flowers, the balance of colour and texture, and the creativity that transforms individual stems into something meaningful.
As part of Made By Hand: An Insight Into The Hidden Paths Across Our Palms, this series celebrates the invisible labour behind floristry. Flowers are often admired for only a short time, yet every arrangement represents years of experience, artistic judgement and careful craftsmanship. Through these photographs, I wanted to celebrate Cheryl's creative process and the dedication that lies behind every bouquet she produces.
