Captured By Kraus Photography | Immersed In The Moment

Meeting Wendy introduced me to the world of silversmithing, where patience, precision and craftsmanship come together to transform a simple piece of sterling silver into something designed to last a lifetime. Before this shoot, I had never truly appreciated the number of individual processes hidden behind a single piece of handmade jewellery.

Photographing Wendy in her studio allowed me to document every stage of her craft, from measuring and shaping the silver to filing, soldering, polishing and adding the finishing touches. Every movement was purposeful, demonstrating years of experience and an incredible understanding of both the material and the traditional techniques she uses.

As part of Made By Hand: An Insight Into The Hidden Paths Across Our Palms, this series explores the invisible labour behind handcrafted jewellery. While a finished ring or pendant may appear effortless, it is the result of careful planning, technical skill and countless small decisions. Through these photographs, I wanted to reveal the craftsmanship that often remains unseen and celebrate the hands responsible for creating each unique piece.
